Embassy Of Brazil In Hanoi
Diplomatic relations between Brazil and Vietnam were established in 1989. The Embassy of Brazil in Hanoi was opened in 1994 and Vietnam established Embassy in Brasilia in 2000. The strong performance of bilateral trade - which jumped from $ 47.1 million in 2003 to US $ 1.6 billion in 2012 - demonstrates the potential for expansion of trade between the two countries. In 2012, Vietnam was Brazil's 11th trading partner in Asia and Oceania and the 5th ASEAN (Vietnam is 13.8% of trade flows between Brazil and ASEAN). Vietnam is a promising partner for Brazilian investments in Southeast Asia.
The Vietnamese interest in knowing the Brazilian public policy is reflected in the large number of visits - the highest vietnamese authorities have been Brazil, as well as parliamentary, academic and technical delegations in various areas, such as social security, environmental protection, energy efficiency, labor relations, preparation of cadres negotiators at the WTO, among others.
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, held visit to Vietnam in 2012. President Lula and the Ministers Celso Amorim and Ananias also visited Vietnam in 2008. On the Vietnamese side, visited Brazil: Tran Duc Luong President (2004); President of the Vietnam National Assembly, Nguyen Van Na (2006); the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Nong Duc Manh (2007); and the Chancellor and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem (2008), heading the Vietnamese delegation to the I Ministerial Meeting ASEAN-MERCOSUR.
Brazil and Vietnam have two regular mechanisms for dialogue: Consultation meetings on Common Interest Affairs (Political Consultations); and Joint Committee. Worthy of mention is also the Parliamentary Friendship Group Vietnam-Brazil, established in 2005.
The bilateral instruments in the following areas are currently in use: health and medical sciences; technical cooperation for the production and use of fuel ethanol; scientific and technological cooperation; fight against hunger and poverty and sports cooperation.
Brazil and Vietnam have cooperated in multilateral fora, which is exemplified by the official support of Vietnam for a permanent seat for Brazil on the UN Security Council.

KEY SKILLS AND DUTIES

Have technical advisory experience in trade and/or agriculture areas (experience in Philippines would be an advantage);
Deliver accurate and timely written translation especially of legal/technical documents;
Show ability to interpret from English to Vietnamese and vice versa when needed;
Demonstrate cross-cultural awareness;
Be available to travel abroad;
Be interested in learning Portuguese.

REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must:
Be physically and mentally fit to work;
Present a criminal background record;
Present a valid identity card;
Present a 3x4 recent photo;
Present an updated Curriculum Vitae;
Present one recommendation letter or recommendations of former employers or teachers;
Have university degree in Foreign Trade and/or Economics. In case of any other degree, applicants must provide corroborated evidence of experience in the aforementioned areas;
Have language competence at proficiency level in Vietnamese and English;
Be competent user of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word;
For Brazilian nationals: Proof of compliance with military service and voting duties, a valid Brazilian passport and a hand-written statement confirming that the applicant does not hold any public post or employment in Brazil.
On submitting the application, present all of the original documents (which will be returned to the applicants) and provide photocopies of all supporting documents with the application as well.
Brazilian nationals or non-Vietnamese nationals must prove they have the right to reside in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam permanently, and are legally entitled to take full-time paid employment for an undetermined length of time, within the terms of the Vietnamese Law;
